Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung (CHE) - Center for Higher Education Development

Zur Initiierung und Unterstützung von Reformen im deutschen Hochschulwesen haben die Bertelsmann Stiftung und die Stiftung zur Förderung der Hochschulrektorenkonferenz (HRK) das CHE Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung gegründet. Seit der Gründung im Mai 1994 versteht sich das CHE als Denkfabrik einerseits und als Berater für das deutsche Hochschulsystem andererseits. Als gemeinnützige Institution definiert es politisch unabhängig Ziele, entwickelt Konzepte und lotet in Pilotprojekten mit Hochschulen und Bundesländern Gestaltungsspielräume aus.

For initiating and supporting reforms in the German university sector  the privat Bertelsmann foundation and the foundation Stiftung zur Förderung der Hochschulrektorenkonferenz (HRK = German Rector's Conference) created the CHE Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung (Centrum for university development). Since the establishment in May 1994 the CHE understands itself as think tank on the one hand and as an advisor for the German university system on the other hand. As non-profit institution it defines goals politically independently, develops concepts and plumbs in pilot projects of organisation clearance with universities and German Länder (States).  .
