  Andy Green is Professor of Comparative Social Science in the School of Lifelong Education & International Development.

His main areas of research are:
  • the comparative study of national education and training systems
  • education and state formation
  • skills formation and competitiveness in Europe and Asia
  • funding and regulation of lifelong learning
  • learning and social cohesion
Andy Green specialises in the comparative (historical and sociological) analysis of education and training systems. He has provided research and consultancy for a variety of national and international bodies including: DTI, DE, DfEE, DfES, DfID, FEFC, NACETT (in the UK) and, internationally, CEDEFOP, OECD, UNESCO and the European Commission. He recently acted as consultant on further education and skills to the DFES National Skills Task Force and the Government Skills Strategy Group.
