Norberto Bottani is an independent consultant in the field of education policies analysis and international comparative studies in education.
He graduated from Friburg University, Faculty of Philosophy where he obtained a Master in Education. From 1976 to 1997, he was the Principal Administrator of the CERI (Centre for Educational Research and Education) at the OECD Paris from  where he carried out several research projects:
-  Head of the Project on International Indicators of Education Systems (INES): 1988-1997
-  Head of the OECD Unit for Education Statistics and Indicators: 1994-1995
-   …
From 1997 to 2005, he was Director of the Unit for Educational Research of the Department of Education, Canton of Geneva.
He is currently a consultant for several European programmes:
EUROsociAL: Regional Programme for social cohesion in Latin America
Socrates Programme on the measurement of equity in educational systems
Norberto Bottani is a member of the editorial committee of Prospects, the IBE’s (International Bureau of Education) journal of comparative education, and the author of many works.
He is also a member of the Scientific Governing Board of PASEC (Programme d’Analyse des Systèmes d’enseignement de la CONFEMEN: Conférence des Ministres Francophones de l’Education Nationale).

His main areas of expertise are:
-  Comparative analysis of educational systems: methodology for comparison;
-  Evolution of educational systems;
-  Indicators;
-  Assessment policies of educational systems;
-  Equity of educational systems;
-  Transfer of educational systems;
-  Educational policies in Italy, Switzerland, France, Spain, the UK, Germany, the USA.
