Lucyna Kopciewicz
Lucyna Kopciewicz is a Professor of Educational Science in University of Gdansk. She is a head of Interdisciplinary Research Centre of Gender Studies at the Institute.
Her work covers various aspects of gender relation in comparative European perspective, particularly gender and teacher’s work, transmission of models of teaching that are invested with essential masculine and feminine patterns, women in higher education, socialization.
Her research and publication interests focus
also on equity, power and empowerment of girls and women in education, feminist
pedagogy in Poland, “gender problem in mathematics and ICT”, especially on
girl’s and boy’s construction of their identities as mathematicians.
Special place in her research occupies sociology of Pierre Bourdieu, critical discourse analysis and phenomenography. She uses conceptual tools from cultural studies, feminism and critical pedagogy.
