Dr Deirdre Raftery is an international expert in the field of History of Education. She has published many books and research papers, and has given guest lectures and presentations on her work at international conferences throughout Europe and North America.
Dr Raftery's PhD researchers have worked on many areas of the history of education, including university education for women; the history of nurse education; training for Garda recruits in Ireland since 1930; the Irish language in education in the twentieth century; convent schooling in Ireland; and many aspects of elementary and national schooling.
