Mikael Luciak is assistant professor at the Dept. of Education, University of Vienna, Austria. His research and teaching are in the fields of intercultural education, the schooling of ethnic minorities in a comparative perspective, on special needs and inclusive education. His current research focuses on the educational situation of Roma. He studied at the University of Vienna, at the University of California in Berkeley and at San Francisco State University. In the past he has worked at the University of Economics in Vienna, as education expert for the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia, as A World of Difference trainer for the Anti-Defamation League and as an independent psychotherapist. He is on the board of the International Association for Intercultural Education and on the editorial board of the Intercultural Education journal. He has published in various journals and books on diversity, inequality, school achievement, and integration related to the schooling of minorities.
