Spyros is director of the Center for the Study of Childhood and Adolescence and president of the Center’s Board of Directors. He holds a Ph.D. in sociocultural anthropology and is an assistant professor of anthropology/sociology at Cyprus College. His research interests revolve around childhood, education, and identity construction as well as nationalism, ethnicity, and racism. He has worked on a number of research projects involving children and adolescents and has published his work in edited books and professional journals. Currently, he is writing a book on Greek Cypriot children’s ethnic identities and conducting a research project on Greek Cypriot children’s knowledge, experiences, and attitudes towards foreigners. His work has been funded by the Wenner-Gren Foundation, the State University of New York at Binghamton, the Bank of Cyprus, UNOPS, and the European Commission.
